Annalee Van Roosendaal learned she had a unique gift of music at the age of three. She could be found sitting at any piano tickling the ivories. At age ten, she took her first piano lesson. It only lasted six short months because she didn't like her piano teacher. Annalee's parents purchased an 1901 upright grand piano for $300 and she played out of every single piano lesson book she could get her hands on.
She began arranging songs when she was 12 years old and performing them in her church. At age 16, she composed a song for her high school graduation and earned the honor of performing it at the ceremony.
She always knew she wanted to be a big city criminal defense attorney and began her studies right out of high school. Her dreams changed when she met her best friend and husband who encouraged her to follow her passion of music.
Annalee earned full music and academic scholarships her first two years of college at Utah Valley University. She was accepted into the University of Utah music department in 2000 and focused on Choral Music Education and Jazz Composition. She graduated in the top 3% of her class in 2004.
Due to her passion, desire and work ethic, she was invited into the Instrumental Master of Music program at the University of Utah and began her studies two weeks after graduating with her Bachelor's degree. She graduated in 2007 with her Masters degree and began her career as a musician, educator, composer, arranger, and performer, leading several bands.
Over the past 17 years, Annalee has been featured on Crystal Stairs in New York, The Morning Show in Park City, Urban Music Award finalist, Channel 4 News, radio stations worldwide, private parties, restaurants, clubs, festivals, dueling piano shows and concerts.
Annalee taught middle school choir, band, orchestra, guitar, piano and general music for 8 years and is passionate about changing the lives of young minds, using the power of music. Her ultimate goal has always been to help kids find their own confidence, voice, talent, risk-taking, work ethic, support, comfort, safety, and accept the differences of others. Learning music came second.
Annalee wanted to elevate her career and become a compassionate school principal that engaged with and knew each and every student. She earned a Masters Degree in Administration from Southern Utah University in December 2014, while teaching full-time and raising six children.
Although Annalee would not become a principal due to the twists and turns of life, she continues to make a difference any chance she gets. She is currently working on a project called, "Stop the Madness" which focuses on helping young minds, especially middle and high school students to focus on themselves and their happiness instead of taking out the frustrations they endure on other people. It is designed to change the perspective on how they think about others and how hurtful the small things can really be. Stay tuned for more information as it is rolled out by 2024.
